Marilyn Monroe: A Tragic Hero

Marilyn Monroe, one of the most famous actresses of the twentieth century, whose life was portrayed on the silver screen, was most know for being the first sex symbol in the 1950’s. Monroe made herself into the most iconic woman in history by promoting an on-screen style that seemed natural. Her American sweet heart face and sexy hourglass physique made her the ideal movie star. However, underneath her paragon image laid a insecure woman with a life filled with turmoil and physiological struggles. No denying that Monroe was a tragic figure due to her grim early beginnings and her wretched ending. Painful as all this may seem, it is essential to the Marilyn Monroe legacy to display the influence that she has over the people today. August 5th, 1962 all news paper headlines told the horrific story of Monroe’s death. Marilyn Monroe the most iconic woman in history died of a barbiturates overdose at the age of 36. Monroe’s life was short lived. She had been abusing her medication for a long while, this wasn’t the first time she had overdosed but it certainly was her last. Monroe had been seeing a psychiatrist for all of her problems, especially her depression. He was the one who convinced her to move into the modest bungalow in Brentwood, California; the house she died in. her death came out of the blue and shocked many people. Many others were sad that such a horrific event had occurred, especially Joe DiMaggio, her second husband. He planned her funeral and it was small and private, only friends and family were invited. Marilyn Monroe was still a legendary woman whose life still influences people
