Throughout time, people in the west and the east seem to have more humbleness once the different type of people visit places other then what they are use to. For example, a person born and raised in North Korea visits the United States and does not know how to speak the language or does not understand the culture of the people in the United States. It should force the person from Korea to become humble because if not then no one is going to guide that person. Going to uncomfortable situations usually forces someone to become more understandable and humble. In M. Butterfly, there were literal instances in which the characters would show humbleness because they were from different regions.…

Yet, every single individual has a different opinion on what it means to be humble. Thus, I believe it is important that you define humility for yourself. To me, humility means to understand that everything is not about myself, but rather it is about others. This certainly goes along some of the themes Brook touches on. I should not really talk about myself; I am not better than anybody else.…

A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than themselves.” That almost perfectly described my baseball coach. Joe Henning. The only thing off about this quote that's different from my “hombre” (he sometimes calls me) is that “gives his or her life.” He at least gets a 2 month break!! When baseball season comes around his plan is go to work, baseball practice then go to bed.…

However, i am not entirely clear on the terminology Fromm is using, both in regard to ‘humility’ and to ‘objectivity.’ As i understand it, Fromm’s conception of objectivity is more like trying to see the world without a particular/specific point of view. Is this correct—it’s not ‘stepping into someone else’s shoes,’ but rather putting on an ‘ideal form’ of Shoes? Is humility, then, stepping into a specific ‘someone else’s’ shoes? Fromm’s definition of humility entails being able to recognise that “I” am not the centre of the universe; wouldn’t that make humility, rather than objectivity, the opposite of narcissism?…

Great People Are Heroes, Not Good People You are not a hero, but do not worry, most people are an average Joe. The people that are selfless, or risk everything to help someone else, and shame others with their courage are the ones we can call heroes. We no longer give honor to the top. Loosely using the term “hero” results in the loss of the true meaning of the word, and how it was once used.…

Humility – almost every dictionary would define this word as having a low view of oneself in terms of the importance one has in their society, having come from the Latin word ‘humilis’ meaning low. The word is also usually synonymous to words such as meekness and unassertiveness. The word ‘humble’ itself can have a meaning of being in a low rank, according to its third definition in the Merriam-Webster dictionary and even when you search ‘humble definition’ in Google. However, the word is solely connected to those that are in high positions and significance. As much as human nature goes, going from every human being whom once was a child, everyone would brag about the smallest achievement.…
