Muscular men with superhuman features is the definition of a hero on google. Even though superheroes in comics can be heroes, true heroes are ones who normally aren’t recognized for their physical features, but their actions. In The Outsiders, by S.E. Hinton, Darrel Curtis is considered a hero because he raises and cares for his siblings and friends. Darry can also be recognized as an anti-hero considering he slapped Ponyboy in anger. “Tragedy of college student, 19, left to raise her three younger siblings after both parents killed in Hurricane Sandy”, by Rachel Quigley from Daily Mail, likewise shows Zoe Everett being a hero because, like Darry, she also cares for her siblings after her parents’ death.

To elaborate, Darry is also a hero

This quote comes from “Tragedy of college student, 19, left to raise her three younger siblings after both parents killed in Hurricane Sandy”, by Rachel Quigley."'I now have two goals: caring for and being guardian of my three younger siblings and keeping my family in the house we grew up in.'(Zoe Everett)"(Rachel Quigley Daily Mail.uk)This quote says that Zoe Everett now raises her siblings and is trying to keep their old house. This quote shows that Zoe Everett cares about her family the most because it was one of her goals. Also it shows that Zoe cares about the place she raises her siblings and that they remember their house that Zoe had grown up in.

While Zoe is a hero to her siblings, Darry is a hero due to his hospitality for his friends and family, which benefits all of the greasers. Personally, I do not think I could be as heroic as Darry or Zoe. I would not be able to keep in frustration or not be able to scold my siblings because I would feel sympathy for their problems and let them do anything. Also, Darry works almost all the time, and I don’t think I could work as hard and long as Darry and take care of my siblings and friends because I would probably be too

Hero vs Hero There are many people in the world that can be portrayed as a hero, but what really is a hero. The dictionary states that a hero is “a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.” In the book The Odyssey, Odysseus was portrayed as the hero who saved everyone from the trojan war. Another hero who saves people and cares about others and not just himself is Iron man from the movie Iron Man(2008,2010,2013). Both of these heroes put their life on the line to help others, and they both have to face personal challenges that changes both of their lives tremendously.…

“A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles” (Christopher Reeve) Heroes don’t need to have superpowers like the ones you see in comics, heroes are ordinary people and they are all around you wherever you go. A hero shows signs of courage, fairness, and trustworthiness Heroes are courageous and lack fear. This shows that heroes aren’t afraid of any obstacles that may face them whether it is big or small. A good example of this is in the Odyssey, when Odysseus thrusted the stake into the big and bad Cyclops to save him and his men.…

I believe that the Curtis family were not official greasers or socs before their parents died. Although I also believe that they did live in the area of which greasers live and they had relations with them. There are many reasons that lead me to this theory. Due to the book saying, “He never let on to Mom and Dad how he felt, though, because we never had enough money and usually we had a hard time making ends meet”(Hinton dig. 35). This leads me to think that they were in poverty in some level even with their parents.…

The majority of people have their own definition of a hero, my definition is, a hero is someone that fights for what they believe in, no matter the consequences. Like Beowulf for example, stood up for the people of Heorot when Grendel started to attack, and he also went after the dragon to protect his people. Another hero to me would be Boo Radley. Both Boo, and Beowulf fought for what they thought was right, and also changed how people thought of them.…
