Within literature and cultures around the world, the basic aspects of a hero is universally shared. A hero can contain numerous qualities, and are most commonly notable for their physical or mental attributes that influence their heroic actions. A hero can often be reduced to a few words: strong, courageous, smart, or brave. Their actions can be simplified to an individual that protects or saves the masses or another individual. In short, an individual who makes a significant change in their world. Personally, I believe the definition of a hero takes on a complex meaning, as there are numerous perspectives on what a hero is and what even allows an individual to withhold the title. As a result, they can sympathize with others, which initiates the actions of aiding others in need. To elaborate further, qualities such as empathy, courage, and wisdom, when these qualities are used accordingly, individuals can execute change amongst their community. These qualities are important attributes when defining the hero, they foreshadow the reasoning and beliefs behind a hero's actions. Though it can be argued that the physical qualities shape the hero, it is the mental qualities that make the physical qualities of a hero worthy of the heroic title. A hero that possesses wisdom, is best known for being knowledgeable, experienced, and able to make good judgements. Wisdom creates the mindset for the hero, and is also a crucial piece when defining a hero. Empathy is also a crucial aspect of a hero, as the hero can relate and sympathize with those he/she are aiding to, empathy can deeply influence how heroes handle those they are saving and their oppressors.
