I like how you mentioned that Hermione's problem with Rita is more than an annoyance. Hermione has a strong connection with text and literature, and I think the intelligence she gains from reading is a source of her confidence. Rita misuses text to manipulate people. I see how that would personally affect Hermione because literature has helped her in several aspects, but Rita is using it to degrade people and spread lies.
