Milton S. Hershey: The Candy Man

Milton Hershey is famous for being the founder of The Hershey Foods Corporation in 1894.
The theory behind his success was the following: "Give them quality. That's the best kind of advertising in the world."
Hershey created his own empire unlike many businessmen of that time, as he didn’t force his employees into grim factories yet he offered them dignity and prosperity.
As any entrepreneur, obstacles and setbacks were on his path. He was perseverant and has amazing capabilities which made him build a great fortune in America. Hershey is an immortalized name which has been bringing happiness to millions of children and adults as well.
Hershey set his first step on the success path when he was 15 years old.

He intended to modernize the manufacturing of chocolate.
The next year, using the very same machinery he'd seen at the exposition, Milton started the Hershey Chocolate Co. and began producing more than 114 different types of chocolate candies. His famous milk chocolate was new to the United States so it was so successful that Hershey sold Lancaster Caramel Co. for $1 million and turned his attention solely to chocolate.
After a wealth of $1 million, Hershey decided to build a town for manufacturing chocolate. Hershey chose his birth place Dairy Church, Pennsylvania for it has clean water, finest dairy products, and plenty of land. The factory was modern with high-tech equipment which eliminated the cost and efforts of production. Around the factory Hershey built an impressive community for his employees. By 1915, the chocolate plant alone covered 35 acres; company sales rocketed from $600,000 in 1901 to $20 million by 1921.
Due to Hershey’s wise vision, both the company and the town survived the Depression and continued to flourish. He refused to fire his employees and made them construct a hotel, a sports arena, a new high school, and a community
