In her article “here’s to your health “Joan dun Ayer (688) talks about different advertisement or myth of alcohol and, how it affect our society. First of all, many companies make untrue statement about alcohol as being a mean of success. On the other hand, were alcohol is really harmful to our society. There are many of students, who drink alcohol they ended up with bad grades. Also alcohol makes people crazy and attractive to the opposite sex. Alcohol makes an illusion that beer and athletics’ are a perfect combination. Drinking, and driving leads people to a lot of car accident, death penalty, and injuries. In her article of “ Here’s to Your Health” is an article that compares and contrast the myths of what companies wants to believe versus what Joan thinks about alcohol. Throughout her essay she gives us four myths about alcohol and her opinion on whether she agrees with those or not. In her essay we are able to see how far people would go to in order to fit as we saw with the young freshman that wanted to fit in with his wrestling varsity team members. He took seven shots and passed out showing that his body isn’t accustomed to drinking. The first myth that she provides us is that liquor signals professional success when in relating drinking alcohol isn’t a part of success rather than a lack of achievements. Propaganda tend to make us the consumers believe that alcohol is something good for example there is a magazine where there are seated professionally toasting with a glass of wine after a good deal they made, the caption reads “ The taste of success.” (page 688) Those that drink heavily tend to perform poor when it comes to their job duties and also students that drink tend to have the lowest grades in school.
