Hera is married to Zeus. Since Zeus fools around with many women, and the rumor went around that Hercules was the son of god, Hera began to get mad that it was Zeus’s son. As her anger grew stronger she decided to get two snakes to kill the newborn Hercules, but the baby easily strangled them. As time went one Hercules father taught him to ride chariots and tame horses. His music teacher was Linus, son of Apollo. Hercules had a short temper, it was showed when he killed Linus with a blow from his stool (or lute). He was then sent to live with herdsmen in the mountains to toughen him up, and there he came into contact with the wise centaur Cheiron.
