This report is called the Discussion. In this article the discussion refers to the findings of the research and the four breakthrough rule. The four breakthrough rule goes beyond the Blue Ocean and Fast Second strategy in order to explain market domination. The Four Breakthroughs strategy explains that submarket control can be accomplished by four types of breakthroughs that occur same time. The first type of breakthrough is technological, which occurs when a new technology outshines existing technology.…
During my internship at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center (STC), I gained more confidence in my decision in eventually pursuing a career in health care, either through being a researcher or a physician. I first started my internship at the University of Maryland STC in my senior year of high school as a requirement for my magnet program. The internship was a volunteer position but we performed basic tasks such as stocking each bay with supplies and saline solution, retrieving blood from the blood bank when needed, and providing blankets and socks for incoming patients. I never paid attention to the importance of these tasks until one specific incident.…

This case study was performed at the mental health institution for young children, called Willowbrook State School, where hepatitis was running rampant. With the permission of the parents, researchers began to dose children, already in the institute and asking for admission, with a weak form of the hepatitis virus and antibodies. Through this research two strains for hepatitis were discovered, A and B. (1, Willowbrook) The children with the antibodies injected into them did not have as severe symptoms as those only injected with the weak virus. The children had the best medical services provided for them since it was a medical institution.…
A study by Dr. Eric Chak in 2011 suggested that NHANEs data on HCV prevalence leaves out a large number of those who are predominately affected by HCV, those are the excluded groups of incarcerated, homeless, nursing home residing, deployed, and hospitalized peoples. While NHANES data usually contains PWID or the drug users targeted by our study, the NHANES survey underestimates the number of people living with HCV because it excludes these groups. So state VHPCs were asked to apply these findings and provide the adjustments for excluded groups for each of their states in comparison to the NHANES survey. Not including Kentucky, 102 million people with HCV were not included in the NHANES data for this region and on average 255.2 people were…

The scale of the market is also a vital part to consider when looking into technological progress because it creates an inventors environment. For example, “in larger markets, firms have more incentives to come up with new products and new methods for production (O 'Sullivan, 173).”Induced innovations stem from challenges when cut backs are being implemented or supplies are scarce and innovators must get creative and rise to the occasion of forcing change. Education, Human Capital, and the Accumulation of knowledge…
This article utilizes a purposive sampling method to explored Chronic Hepatitis C (CHC) positive patients receiving antiviral therapy treatment from liver clinics from two tertiary hospitals located in Sidney, Australia. Several factors were explored including the influences that triggered the patient to start receiving antiviral treatment, ability to adhere to the treatment plan, and how successful treatment completion was achieved. The authors believe that as new CHC treatments become available, adherence to treatment therapies will become more important. As therapies progress identifying potential patients that may need additional treatment support will be essential in treatment success. Future treatments will become more refined, affordable,…

The core of the hepatitis B virus is generally in the shape of an icosahedron. Within the virus, there are two strands of DNA, one smaller than the other, which is circular. HBV is around 42 nm in width, and the core is surrounded in a 4nm thick coat. They are enveloped, which means they are more susceptible to being destroyed, because the envelope is very thin. Viruses in general are very small, much smaller than bacteria, and HBV is no different.…
