The Good Deed I walked into Amwell Pet Supply to restock on hay and kibble for my new pet guinea pig, Chestnut, and my new pet rabbit, Butterscotch. As I turned around, many cages of cats caught my eye and the cats’ loud purring resonated in my ear. I passed each cage noticing a grey cat, a black cat, and a orange and white cat that reminded me of a tiger. They all had a clean finish to their fur, like that of recently trimmed hair.

As I observed him, I noticed his atramentous fur was covered in dandruff, his teeth were chipped, and his eyes had clear goop dripping out of them like tree sap. I just stared at his emerald eyes, envisioning how wonderful it would be to have Henry as my own pet. Every time I went to the pet store, I still left feeling bad for

Greetings classmates, A 3 mile run from my house is a historic place that was settled by the Timucua Indians, French and Spanish explorers. The run takes place on mostly shaded sidewalk with some dappled sunlight. Occasionally, I will have my iPhone with me for music and tracking purposes but sometimes I don’t bring it. There are rarely other runners when I run. The run there and back is a time of reflection to gain focus and clarity about the coming events.…

Fluffy A few years ago, when my mom lived in a house, not an apartment, My sister had gotten a cat named fluffy because of her obsession with cats. I thought nothing would go wrong, but boy was I wrong… When Fluffy was not being played with, I would cuddle with him on the rocking chair until he fell asleep, which made him look like a kitten, It helped me deal with my anxiety, and stay happy with that. His Id is very prominent and overpowering, but his superego comes out more when he’s shot in a store trying to get some cigarettes. Henry’s natural state though is his superego. The way he is in the beginning of this movie may seem like he’s very self-consumed but deep down has morals and loves his family. First, his Id is greatly shown in the beginning of the movie when he’s selfish and insensitive to the feelings of others and what is morally right.…

Big cats are some of the most beautiful animals on the face of the planet. Their strength and agility are stunning. Yet, in spite of these attributes, many big cats have been faced with a variety of obstacles that have hindered their healthy lifestyles. The Florida panther has been especially affected by these obstacles. In the November 1997 issue of National Parks, Yvette La Pierre’s description of the Florida panther in her article entitled “On the edge: Florida panthers, which once roamed the southeastern states, have been reduced to one population” is sad because it reveals that the Florida panther population has been greatly harmed as a result of pollutants, habitat loss, and inbreeding.…

Declawing, a Pet Catastrophe There are twenty-eight countries across the globe that declare declawing, also known as onychectomy, illegal or inhumane and can only be performed under extreme circumstances (Schelling, “Places Where Declawing Is Illegal”). With so many countries banning this procedure, it becomes clear that there is something wrong with the practice of declawing. Declawing cats has become highly controversial and discussed in the cat community. Supporters of onychectomy argue that the removal cats’ claws is a better alternative to owners abandoning cats due to destructive scratching (Stregowski). However, the process of declawing is brutal, has only negative effects on cats, and does have better alternatives that must be known…

I have owned a total of four dogs and two cats in my short eighteen years of life. To say the least, I’ve always loved animals, specifically dogs. They’re fun loving, easily excitable creatures who bring out the best in all of us. Unfortunately, many of them are without families living in pounds and worst, some are living in abusive homes. After many years of weeping to Sarah McLachlan's singing, “ In the Arms of an Angel” and promising to help save the lives of the many dogs and cats without loving homes, I finally have the chance to actually help.…
