They are the representation of scars and wounds that the soldier’s body has been facing. Also, there are curved lines around the side of his limbs, displaying uneven lumps and stumps showing the extreme amount of pain his body is under. Lastly the element of colour used in this sculpture has a profound effect on how we see the figure. The base colour of the sculpture is a very dark brown and on top of it there are hints of light brown and green. These hints of colours are used to focus the viewers attention on certain parts of the sculpture. For example the left side rib, left thigh and the neck have a hint of green colour while, the left knee ,left limb and his left lower cheek have a golden brown colour. There are also white highlights on the figure which are apparent on the bottom of the shield, left rib and the stomach. Further, the body of this man who looks like a solider is fully damaged as shown through his severed right arm and leg, to the scars on his body.
