The product that has been chosen is IXL Strawberry Spread. The company which makes this product is Henry Jones IXL. Henry Jones IXL was founded in 1898 as H. Jones & Company and is a well-known Australian brand name, associated with jams and other fruit based products. The brand is now owned and manufactured by SPC Ardmona which has been owned by Coca-Cola Amatil since February 2005.
Product and Target Audience
The product IXL Strawberry Conserve is the most popular products made by this company. It is one of the highest selling jams in Australia and therefore is loved by many. The logo was an iconic part of this product’s packaging however it seemed a bit dated so this has been slightly modified but has been kept recognisable. Having a picture of the fruit that is in the jam was seen to be an effective image that was used commonly throughout many different brands of jam such as Kraft Jam and Woolworths Select Jam so this was added into the design. The jam will be packaged in portion sized packets for convenience and health reasons. It is a durable product with a long shelf life as the packaging will not disintegrate or break easily. The product is very safe as there are no sharp edges or parts children could choke on. The product is marketable as the recognisable logo has been kept similar and the brand name has been kept the same. The product is different from others as it comes in portion sized packaging as well as being in Australian colours such as green and gold. The packaging is made from environmentally friendly materials and the product itself is made in the most sustainable way possible. The product suits the target audience as the target audience is all Australians so the green and gold colours have been used to represent country pride and the product is made in Australia which makes it more appealing to an Australian audience that would want to buy locally made
