Reason case was accepted for investigation:
On 5/30/17, Hennepin Child Protection accepted a report alleged neglect- failure to provide health, medical or other care for Janiyah Legg by paternal grandmother. Also, alleged neglect and failure to provide necessary supervision of Janiyah Legg. Per reporter there was an open flame fire outside and Janiyah was being watched by Davoria. Per reporter, Janiyah fell in the fire pit and immediately pulled herself out. Per reporter Janiya was taken to the hospital by her mother, Jaquilla Tripplet. Per reporter Janiya had multiple second degree burns with blisters on her left arm and hand. Also, per reporter Jaquilla asked Davoria to take Janiyah to hospital but Davoiria stated that Janiyah was fine. Per reporter Jaquilla then called Janiya’s father Anthony Legg and told him about Janiyah getting burned. Per reporter Anthony reported that he was aware that Janiyah was burned and he stated that she did not need medical attention.

Davoria about the allegation. Ms. Davoira reported that this was a “freak accidents.” She stated that she takes care of her grandchildren including other grandchildren. She stated that there has been no previously incident like this before. Ms. Davoria stated that they were having backyard barbecue and the kids were eating s’mores. She stated that afterward there were lots of wind and little rain drops and so they all went back to the house. She reported after few minutes the rain stopped and the children went outside to play. She stated that because of the rain the fire went out. She stated that she had no concerns and the children were safe to play outside. Ms. Davoria stated that she saw and heard Janiyah falling into the fire and immediately she picked her up and took her to the bathroom for ice and cold water. She stated that she wrapped her arm with burn bandages and afterward Janiyah was playing with her cousins and was not feeling any pain according to Ms.
