Reason Case was accepted for investigation:
On 07/28/2017, Hennepin Child Protection accepted a report alleged physical abuse domestic violence of Shea Estey and Sidara Aden by mother’s former boyfriend alleged father of Sidra, Ayahye Aden. Per reporter Sarah was granted an order for protection due to domestic violence involving Ayahye. Per OFP documents, on 6/8/17 Ayahye became angry after Sarah told him to stop watching TV. Per reporter Ayahye then started to pull the TV off of the wall Called Sarah, a “Stupid piece of Shit” and was waving his arm around. Per reporter Sarah attempted to leave with both children, Ayahye grabbed her left wrist and bent it backwards casing it swell and bruise. Per reporter he also caused bleeding on her knuckles when he pulled car keys out of her hand and asked her “do you want to die tonight.” The police were called but no report was made.
Outcome of the Assessment:
Mr. Ayahye stated that he and Ms. Estey were in relationship for about more than a year. He stated that they moved together to work on their relationship and build their family. He stated that he supported Ms. Estey and his step son. Mr. Ayahye stated that at the beginning of their relationship things looked normal as far as Ms. Estey personality and her emotions. However, after the birth of his daughter Ms. Estey became emotionally disrupt with outburst of anger and often to impulsive screaming. He stated that Ms. Estey did mentioned at the beginning to him her mental health and her hospitalization due to severe depression. Ms. Estey stated they will argue for minor things and Ms. Estey appears often to the point of rage, which are disproportionate to the situation during their disagreement. He reported they grow apart but still continued to leave together and work on their relationship. This worker asked about the allegation. Mr. Ayahye stated that he likes to sleep late at night and Ms. Estey is the opposite. He stated that he decided to watch TV quietly. However, Ms. Estey got upset and turned it all off. He stated the TV was not loud because the children were sleeping at the time. He stated that Ms. Estey was verbally aggressive and making up stories and threaten to call the police with false report. Afterward he called the police as well. He stated the police arrived and both advised to move in a separate home. Mr. Ayahye stated that the police told him if there is a second report he may get charged or taken to the jail. He stated that he kept his distance after that. Mr. Ayahye denied ever being either verbally or physically abusive to Ms. Estey. He stated Ms. Estey always reports false allegation and due to that he plans to stay away to avoid any conflicts. Mr. Ayahye reported that he plans to co—parent with Ms. Estey with help with family court. Mr. Ayahye stated that they both went to court because Ms. Estey was reporting a false report and the judge dismissed the case because she did not had any doctor notes about her allegation report. He also stated that Ms. Estey has history of domestic violence with pervious relationship and she filled OFP against ex-boyfriend. Mr. Ayahye stated that he used to drink occasionally and not anymore. He denied using any drugs. He denied childhood abuse and neglect. Mr. Ayahye was asked about discipline techniques in the home and he stated that he verbally communicates or takes away games. He denied any physical discipline. Ms. Sarah Estey: This worker met with Ms. Estey at her home and the children were present. Mr. appeared calm and engaged during the interview. The apartment looked very organized and clean. Both of her children were playing with toys and other time watching TV. This worker asked about the allegation. Ms. Estey stated that her boyfriend Ayahye is not supportive and has been verbally aggressive to her. She stated that he is the father of his daughter Sidra Aden.
