There are two major mining companies in Colorado. The Henderson Mine in Empire, Colorado and the Cresson Mine is located in Victor, Colorado. The Henderson Mine produced the mineral molybdenum. The Cripple Creek & Victor Mine produces the mineral gold. Cripple Creek & Victor mine is Colorado’s largest gold mine.

Gold is the only yellow metal. Gold is considered the most precious and expensive metal on earth. Most scientist believe that gold was not formed here on earth that came from large meteorite. When the earth was being formed iron went into the middle of the earth’s core when the iron went into the core it took other heavy metals with it like gold. Most of the earth’s gold is still there in the earth’s core. The gold found closer to the earth surface is believed to be brought here by recent meteorites. Gold ca not be man-made like diamond what is here on earth is all we have making it very valuable. Some scientist believes that if we could mine in outer space we could find more gold then we would know what to do with which would mean the value of gold would plummet. So gold that is in the earth’s core made its way up to the surface by erosion which caused cracked rocks for gold to seep in causing gold veins.
