September 2012 I, Ashley Calderon, began 9th Grade. It was a new school, new surrounding. The last three years I have been constantly in and out your office making sure everything in my classes are good, making sure I am on the right track to a successful future like you always say. I will continue to do so. As you may know now I am a senior of Hempstead High School, my senior year has finally arrived. We have been talking about college and all the classes and choices I needed to make to work myself up to where I need to be. It has been a bumpy and long ride to get to senior year but, the important thing is that I got here, and not just barely made it but made it with a decent number of credits. Thanks to all your guidance and advice from the last couple of years I am on my way of graduating …show more content…
I will be making various visits to your office throughout the school year. Like you said from the first day we met "Feel free to stop by my office whenever you want, to ask questions." So i will continue to annoy you this last school year. Well I am writing this letter to you to ask you for a favor if you could do me a favor of writing a letter of recommendation for colleges for me. I would really appreciate a letter from you, just because we have gotten the pleasure to know one another for these four interesting, funny, but important years of my life. You are one of the person's that I have always felt comfortable to go ask questions whenever i needed to and have actually helped me. Once again I would really appreciate you taking the time to write this letter of recommendation. Thank You Mr. Higgins, If you have any questions or comments feel free to email me at : Ashleycalderon1109@gmail.com. Once more thank you for all your time and patients you have dedicated to

GROWING UP Growing up, I didn’t have many luxuries, if any. The best thing I had was being a 5 minute walk away from a convenience store. The house I grew up in was infested with cockroaches and was falling apart within the walls. The dining room was so small, some of us had to eat on the floor. We only had three bedrooms, so my three younger siblings had to sleep in the living room.…

“The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively. ”- Bob Marley. The quote above should be significant in the lives of all, but not all who live truly aspire to inspire greatness in others and in their self.…

At 38 degrees latitude north and 92 longitude west, lies the rural farming town of California, Missouri. This town is rich in cornfields, small businesses, and many churches of all denominations. From the quiet fields, to the busy town square this city is home to 4,341 people. What I believe makes California stand out from the other towns is that it has the “oldest continuously operating fair west of the Mississippi” (Kunze). But the thing that impacts me most about this town is the California High School, it’s staff, and the students.…

Valedictorian Speech Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, fellow graduates. First of all I would like to thank the teachers, parent volunteers, and any other person that was not mentioned that has had an impact in our years at St. Albert. Some of you may not have thought of it this way, but elementary school is where most of your year of education will come from. This year would not have been the same without them.…

I'm simply amazed, looking back at first semesters seeing how much I've grown as a student. If I were to look back almost a year ago, I realized applying for MCHS has been the best decision I've ever made. I strongly maintain that there's no doubt in my mind that MCHS is where I want to continue my high school education. Just being able to survive prep 9 seems like a great accomplishment. In this essay I will be discussing the following,my year as a prep 9 student, how prep 9 impacted me as a student, and how I fulfilled the expectations for prep 9.…

I can hardly believe I only have one more high school year left. Balancing work, academics, and extracurricular activities are not easy. In the past three years of high school there were moments I struggled, and felt like giving up in some classes. But as a diligent student I worked hard, and persevered by challenging myself to do further and deeper studying in every task set before me.…

The start of freshman year of high school started off rough. I had little motivation when it came to my schoolwork. After my first report card of first semester, I knew that I had to work much harder to reach my goals of going to college. By senior year, I graduated as an honors student. When starting college at Illinois State University, this freshman year was going to be different, I took initiative to work hard and made the grade that made it possible for me to apply for the Honors Program.…

When I first arrived at Santa Teresa High School in sophomore year, I wasn’t trying as hard to be a good student. I had given up on school because of an incident I went through, the beginning of my sophomore year at my old school. I didn’t think that my situation would change so fast. During my sophomore year my grades weren’t so high; that all changed the following year. I took the AP Computer Science course that was taught by one of my MESA advisors.…

Kyleigh, My dude, I don’t even know where to begin. I remember freshman year we met at Prep’s welcome dance. I don’t know if you remember, but I literally did not know a single soul and the people I was “with” abandoned me. I was a lost puppy. You stopped me and asked, “Hey, what’s your name?!”…

Finally, i’m a ninth grader, I said when I left the junior high on the last day, but it felt like such a surreal feeling until I walked into the doors of the high school, the high school is as big as an elephant, or maybe even as big as outer space! I thought. I said that I know my strengths and weaknesses for example, one of my strengths is that I can usually catch on pretty quick to what is going on around me, but one of my weaknesses is that I don’t really try as hard as I could. When I look bad on my ninth grade year I wanna remember that I stepped out of my comfort zone, and that my year was simply exquisite! I am really going to push myself so I can make this year the very best.…

Believing is Power My parents have played a powerful role in my upbringing. They taught me right from wrong, how to be the person I am, and how to treat other people, but one of the most important lessons they taught me was how to believe in myself. As a child, I was always told I could be whatever I wanted to be when I was an adult. Mom and Dad would make sure I knew that if I wanted to be a police officer or a doctor, I could be a police officer or a doctor.…

My first semester of college has been an intersting learning experience. It has been full of ups and downs. I’ve learned a lot since being in college, mostly how to take charge of my life and get my priorities straight. I learned that being successful in college depends on how you prioritize your work and how serious you take it. At first my priorities weren 't where they were supposed to be, and I realized my grades were going to suffer if I did not change.…

These past three years have been unforgettable and we will all take these experiences with us as we move forward to high school, college and onward. As fast and rare as a summer breeze, our middle school time is over and an entirely new part of our lives is just initiating, however, we will never fail to remember all of the wonderful people we met during our stay at Sandburg. On behalf of my eighth grade class, I’d like to express our gratitude to all of those in this room who have helped us to succeed, learn, and thrive over the past three years. Teachers, administrators, faculty, friends, and family, thank you for giving us the guidance we needed to grow into well-rounded, good-natured, and bright young adults. We will always remember your efforts to aid, teach, and be there for us when it was most wanted.…

Loud laughs, heavenly smells of bacon and biscuits, front doors banging open and slamming closed, and shrill, childish screams greeted me as I woke up early one summer morning. The sweltering Louisiana heat wave kept most people locked indoors, but not us. For today was a celebration, my great grandmothers ninety-second birthday. This event brought the whole family together from extended cousins to step aunts and great uncles. As a child, I lived for the moments where we’d all gather in the living room and exchange childhood memories and random phrases of wisdom and reflection.…
