The third person point of view used by the author allows us to really get an inside view of her emotions towards her unborn child. Her feelings of how she views the unborn child changes as the couple starts to actually communicate. She uses words like "it" and then suddenly at the end it changes to a "somebody" referring to the baby. The author stresses "No we can't. It isn't ours anymore". (Hemingway 117) and then he states "Of course it does. But I don't want anybody but you. I don't want anyone else. And I know it's perfectly simple." Hemingway has created a minimalistic approach to the discourse of pregnancy and abortion in multiple short stories. By creating ambiguous plots, Hemingway establishes gender roles in his Men Without Women. Two particular short stories, “Hills like White Elephants” and “Indian Camp”, execute a mutual understanding of what it meant to be a woman in different eras, cultures, and geographical locations. Hemingway highlights the early stages of pregnancy and the moment of labor. While doing this, Hemingway also contributes to the notion of what is meant to be a man and the obliged power associated with manhood.…

Abortion is a common practice in the United States that the government and society as a whole freely accepts. People that disagree with this view are seen as judgmental and they are often too timid to speak out against the issue. In Ray Comfort’s video, he shows how the presentation of a new perspective can change the hearts of many towards when life begins, and abortion in general. He is only one individual; however, he is able to change opinions through his argument, and he causes his listeners to consider his view point without making them feel insignificant or offended.…

Question 1: In Thomson’s piece of writing, “A Defense of Abortion” she argues that fetuses have a right to live unless the mother decides to have an abortion because she has been raped. Thomson says she grants that the fetus has a right to live at the moment of conception, but goes on to say that ‘it’s not self-evident that a fetus’s right to life will always outweigh the mother’s right to determine what goes on in her body. Therefore, Thomson concludes that abortion is permissible even if the woman knows the possible consequences of having sex.…
