This article “Helping The Hungry” is important because it reminds us that lots of people in Canada don't have food, we are unnecessarily disposing it, and there are lots of people out there trying to help and make a difference.

There are over 870 million people in Canada that starve and have no food. The text in the article states that Canada tosses 31.6 billion dollars of food a year. This is a big number and should
