Interview of a Helping Professional
In order to broaden my knowledge of the helping profession, I chose to interview Tiffany Tritch, Manager of Housing and Financial Stability Programs at The Up Center formerly known as Child and Family Services of Eastern Virginia. The Up Center has been up and running for over a century touching the lives of tens of thousands. Located at 222 W 19th Street Norfolk, VA 23517 puts this office a little close to home. They often relinquish that they’ve heard of the Center through Word of mouth, referrals, and in to many cases through court ordered. When someone initially contact the agency as a whole, the front desk asks for what services they are seeking and sends them to that department to speak with someone who can assist further. I also never knew that even after the client chooses not to follow up with The Up Center how much effort they still put into reach out to them. After talking to Tiffany and hearing her sincerity and how much she truly cares about her job it only once again reminded me how much I want that in my future. I am currently perusing a degree in business management and although I like to be in charge I have no interest in what I’ve been studying. I feel the opposite with this class and have considered changing my major. My interview with Tiffany was just the cherry on top although I don’t think I’m changing my major I now plan to minor in human services. Tiffany also told me that human services personnel are always needed and that is the main reason I picked business management in the first place. I’ve heard to many stories of individuals going to school only to have not a single
