“Will you niggers please shut up!” that is something I experienced at a young age. I personally know firsthand how hurtful racial slurs can be. I was born in Alton, IL; I went back and forth between Alton and St. Louis until I was fourteen years old. One night, I attended a movie, Hell Boy 2 to be exact. Some parts of the movie were funnier than others and my friends and I proceeded to laugh. A Caucasian man and his family, sitting a few rows behind us, got sick of us laughing and said the racial slur towards us. We were all so appalled to be experiencing a situation like this at such a young age. Of course we retaliated, which resulted in a lot of commotion. The employees came into the theater and asked what had taken place. We explained the …show more content…
If I remember that one significant incident that happened years ago and still remember the exact emotions I felt, I can only imagine how the people that hear racial slurs on a daily basis feel. Racial slurs are never okay, they have never been okay and they can hurt people deep. Racial slurs are meant to hurt people, or make them feel less about themselves. Under no circumstances are they ever fair or okay. I believe that any kind of racial slur is considered Harassment. Harassment is regularly dealt with in the court of law. It stands to reason that racial slurs would be illegal because of their similarity to Harassment and discrimination. I honestly feel like people that use these slurs are cruel and heartless. No one deserves to be called out based on the color of their skin. No one knows the other’s story or knows what a person has to go through in their everyday struggle. For example in the book “To Kill a Mockingbird” Atticus Finch said that one will not understand how one feels unless he climbs into the other person’s skin and walks around in it. In other words, you will not know how hurtful the slurs that you say are until you’re in their shoes. Ultimately, they are unacceptable and no one should be judged by the color of their

Often I hear older people make racist jokes, in particular Black jokes, at which time I get up, slam down my drink and sigh in disgust, making everyone look at me, and then walk away. I think they get the point, because the old man now looks like an old fool and shuts up. I am very fortunate that one side of my family is totally free from prejudice and hatred of any kind toward Blacks or anyone…

When one hears the term "gang" their thoughts do not generally turn to a group of boys hanging out, but rather a group of adults who have come together with the unified purpose to fight. Whether it be over territory, persons of interest or a disagreement of how a situation should be handled; socially speaking, one would most likely think of notorious groups such as the Bandito 's, MS13 or in this instance the Hells Angels. The first chapter of the Hells Angels is believed to have been started dating back as far as 1948 in Fontana/San Bernardino California. Although there were several other motorcycle groups banding together across the state of California at this time, there was no documented connection with the Hells Angels.…

Honestly, Hell scares me, but I do not think that I am the only one that is scared of it. In the bible hell is talked about negatively because it really is not a pleasant place or supposed to be perceived as one. On the flip side of that, God’s blessings are unbelievably incredible. The only problem is if we only follow Him so good things happen to us, we are still being selfish. God is loving, and blesses us, and cares about us, and most of all, He never wants to see us getting hurt because of the tragedies of this fallen world.…

Racial discrimination impacts people in a way where you can put someone down and get in a violence situation if you say the “n” word because of the impact it had in history and for a long time it's going to be like that until we learn that it's not that bad and it's just a word. It's not the only word that's disrespectful but there's so much it's hard to know half of them and people are coming up with new words to racially discriminate someone over something they can't control and if we tried to slow it down then it would take a lot of time. One example from the book is when mama bought the house knowing that there is no other race but white people in the neighborhood.…

Prejudice Is Not a Joke As a culture we tend to believe that because we have made great progress socially, we are no longer dealing with the struggles of racism and other forms of prejudice. If you were to ask any given person on the street about their views on prejudice towards another based on the color of their skin or their sexuality, people would give you great answers of how it’s reserved for those who are truly evil and hate other cultures, people who speak freely about their disdain. There is a fair amount of chance that at some point in that same person’s life they have told a joke or said something with prejudicial context. Prejudice is extremely prevalent in today’s society, and it can be found on the tongues and in the minds of the majority of people around us whether they hold hated against other cultures or not. As a society we are being far too lenient with some very derogatory actions because we dress them as jokes or claim that one group of people has the right to use a slur because of their race, and this frame of mind is the cause of much controversy.…

If it gets into the wrong hands, it will be destroyed and used wrongfully. When I hear this word come out of the mouths of whites, my face immediately lights up.…
