The eye is the organ of vision, the process in which vision is produced can be affected by things such as increased pressure, exposure, or just simply age. When this process is affected eye disorders such as glaucoma, cataracts, myopia, astigmatism, and many more, come into place. The ear has a great deal of importance as much as the eye, in fact they basically are connected as well as your other senses. When the process of sound in the ear is not together disorders such as conduction and nerve damage come into place, nerve deafness deals with the inner ear and can be more serious and conduction deafness deals with the outer ear. The unknown disease she was contracted was described by doctors as “an acute congestion of the stomach and the brain". Today is it believed that disease she contracted was most likely scarlet fever, which can be caused by skin infections, or meningitis which is the acute inflammation of the protective membranes covering the brain and spinal cord. In Helen’s time there was no known cure for her disease in fact there wasn’t even a classification for the disorder.
