The number of homeless people has not dropped, it has risen. There are 231 more homeless people since 2015 that are on streets, in emergency shelters, or in transitional housing. Homelessness has always been a problem, it has only gotten worse from the recession. Shawn Marlowe, a guard, said, "Every time I ask people to leave, they ask me, 'Where am I going to go?' Tory Cooney from the Twin Cities Pioneer Press examines that “The bells, tied onto a yellow backpack slung over Evansen’s walker, warn the veteran if anyone jostles the pack,” (More of Minnesota’s elderly are becoming homeless, 1). Their point is that you have to be very cautious if you are homeless because homeless people will do anything to provide for themselves. This proves that they need to have more places for the veterans to go after they get done serving. If the veterans have no family they might have trouble finding a place to live. It then follows that the Minnesota Government needs to raise taxes to help pay for a place where veterans to go after they are done
