An entire generation of Brazilian composers took to Villa-Lobos’ style, his music quickly became immensely popular in the United States, and he was hired as the director of musical education in Rio de Janeiro. These are the main reasons that show how important Villa-Lobos was and is to the classical music world. Brazil now has its own distinct and recognizable musical style that is not closely related with European music. Today, Brazilian music is recognized around the world, but before Villa-Lobos, it was only recognized in Brazil.
