In the encyclopedia entry, “Heinrich Himmler”, the author explains everything that Himmler had done when he was gaining power and when he was at full power. To demonstrate, “With characteristic drive and pedantic precision he rapidly turned this organization into an elite army of 50,000… After the Nazis came to power in 1933, Himmler took over and expanded the Gestapo… In 1934 he liquidated Ernst Roehm… which took charge of all concentration camps,”(ency 203). This shows how Himmler was dedicated to trying to put himself on the map is a leader, therefore eventually taking control of all the concentration camps in Germany and elsewhere. This also proves how he took advantage of the situation he was in by turning an army into a semi-empire and
