The hedonic usage of social media arises from activities that are devoted to pleasure and desire for some form of interpersonal connection. Facebook and Twitter, for examples, provide interconnections of individuals from similar age groups whether they are students from other area colleges or international. People continue to connect through social media sites when they seek to get in touch with a person they may have previously lost contact with or to meet new people worldwide. For example, approximately 73% of internet using teenagers have joined social networking sites since 2009 with almost half of them visiting these social media sites on a daily basis (citation).
