Hedgehogs are by far, one of the ugliest sorts of creatures we take home as pets. Much like a rat, yet covered with long hair that makes them look spiked, hedgehogs are a bit more friendly and absolutely fat, often getting stuck on their large backs, flailing their short, stubby legs in every direction. It is no question that these animals are not attractive to look at. On the other hand, when seeing them play, popping their head out of your favorite coffee mug, or cuddled up in the tiniest of blankets, or wearing the holiday hats you dress them in without protest, they seem not very ugly at all, actually quite adorable and cute. No, not always. Sometimes, men in particular, find shy women better for relationships.
Why?
Men love having more of a challenge when it comes to dating. This is where the cliché, “play hard to get” comes from. Also, it is thought that shy people are more trustworthy and more likely to stay faithful in a relationship. Similarly, testosterone levels are increased, making men feel more manly. This happens because men feel like they get to protect their shy girls. Also, they feel like their dominance is more favored in these relationships.
Is any of this true for shy men?
Some of it. Sometimes women like men who are rather shy because they (the women) like getting to know the men over a longer period of time. They are more mysterious and less likely to be very authoritative and controlling or aggressive. This is caused by frequent social rejection. Men look at a beautiful girl and think “I’d never stand a chance with that girl,” so they do not even try to talk to her.
