Hedda is the daughter of a General and lives a decent lifestyle as a child. Hedda marries George Tesman, marrying into a basic lifestyle. She is constantly consumed with the idea of her husband making a living and them being better off than everyone else. Hedda’s idea of life is it should be beautiful, and should measure up to certain standards. She is extremely admired for her beauty by the male characters with in the play, and has “private” relationships with other men.
