Hector Research Paper

Hector, a man of great respect and honor, is a great hero of Troy through all of his feats he had contributed during the Trojan War. This general of Troy is considered by the Trojans as their greatest champion during the Trojan War. Through his skill, courage and leadership, he kept the entire Trojan army together in the face of a war. In their eyes, he is a hero worth serving and dying for. Not only was he a great warrior, he was also a loyal husband and father. Throughout the war, Hector is a hero who fought valiantly and bravely for the city that he loved through his patriotism and love for his family. One of the character traits that made Hector a hero was his loyalty towards Troy. His unrelenting loyalty to serve Troy until his death showed that he would give up anything to protect his city. In the beginning of the war, Hector had a prophecy that he is going to die and Troy is going to fall (Switzer 96). Instead of running away to save himself, Hector still fought in the Trojan War and protected Troy, even though he knew he would die on the battlefield. Hector’s actions exemplified his loyalty towards Troy and bravery by sacrificing himself for protecting something that is important to him. Without the help of Hector, the Trojans would have fallen much quicker because Hector was the strength of Troy, and a vital piece for its survival. By fighting to protect his homeland, Hector assumes the role of the patriotic symbol of Troy, gaining respects from both ally and enemy. In displaying his virtue within his family, Hector further gains respect from son and wife. Through these respects shown by comrades, family and enemy, it is seen that Hector indeed becomes the greatest hero Troy has
