Heavy metal music is seen as satanic, nonmusical and talentless, but it’s time we drop the stereotype and focus on the real story. Metal fans are not violent as the stereotype portrays them. Most heavy metal bands are not satanic, one of my favorite frontmen is a christian. Also heavy metal is fast paced and difficult to play. The stereotype does not exist.

Don’t get me wrong, the band “Slayer” uses satanic lyrics, but the band denies any relation to the church of satan, the occult, or any other satanic organizations. In an interview Tom Araya (slayer bassist and vocalist) stated, “we want to scare people” when asked why they use satanic imagery. Now most metal bands in the thrash era like Megadeth and Metallica do not use satanic imagery, in countless interviews Megadeth’s frontman and guitarist Dave Mustaine claims he “found god and is a hardcore christian”. The black metal community has been accused of satanism the most but black metal is really viking related. In general heavy metal is not evil/satanic but there are exceptions with everything. Well whoever told you that needs to do more research on the subject. According to the Huffington Post, “heavy metal actually does the opposite”. Metal is a way to burn your anger until there’s nothing left to burn. Imagine there is something irritating you, now picture the anger rising and it makes you tired and all negative energy leaves your body like fire burning a log or plank of wood. According to the huffington post, “heavy metal calms angry listeners”. Maybe you are mad at a bully or maybe your mom doesn’t make enough money. It could be a great outlet for those negative emotions. Heavy metal can also do the same thing with happiness. A certain favorite song may jog happy memories like hearing that song for the first time with friends. The stereotype is completely false. However, like in the last paragraph there are exceptions. But why would we paint all metal fans with that brush. Just because we like a different kind of music doesn’t mean that we want to hurt
