Heavy Duty Towing: A Short Story

Three men were angry with Leonard “Bubba” Seth while he hooked a vehicle up to his tow truck.
“I almost got beat up,” Seth said. “They thought I was taking their car.”
Seth said in cases like this, he has to calm people down when their vehicle is towed.
“You just got to put yourself in their position and think about what they’re going through right now,” Seth said, “and talk to them and let them know it’s not the end of the world and it happens more than they think.”
Seth said he has worked as a tow truck driver since 1997, and has to go through stressful situations with customers on a daily basis.
“It’s the most unrecognized profession in the world,” Seth said.

“It’s crazy how they have to be out dealing with people while I can stay in the office,” Holmes said. “He has to actually be the face of the company.”
Holmes said Seth works in different kinds of weather.
“I have a lot of respect for him because he works very hard, and out in the elements like cold and hot weather,” she said. “He has to deal with icy roads which can be dangerous.”
The 44-year-old tow truck driver said it is difficult to work in bad weather conditions.
“We drive bigger vehicles and you have to be careful of other people and think of your own safety,” Seth said. “It’s real stressful. That’s what a lot of people don’t understand.”
Seth’s girlfriend, Nikki Bergin, said Seth is good at his job by diffusing bad situations with people. “They’re not all there to repo your vehicle,” Bergin said. “They’re there to help.”
She said she is impressed by his job.
“I see those dumb reality shows on TV of towing and how its like dramatized,” Bergin said. “It’s not exactly like what it is on

She said Seth pulled up to a flipped over vehicle that was sitting on a bridge railing on the side of a busy interstate and turn the vehicle back over.
“It’s scary and interesting,” Bergin said. “I’ve been amazed at what I’ve seen him go through.”
Bergin said she worries about Seth because he deals with the stress of his job by keeping it to himself.
“I don’t want him, you know stressing himself out so much that he ends up in the hospital,” Bergin said, with a frown. “I hurt for him when he
