Attorney General Kamala D. Harris claims the new laws that fall under “assault weapons”. She explains different weapons that can be considered a “assault weapon”: “A semiautomatic, center fire rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following: a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon, a thumbhole stock, a folding or telescoping stock, a grenade launcher or flare launcher, a flash suppressor, a forward pistol grip” (Kamala D. Harris). Anything that can detach a magazine quick and easy without a “bullet button” that feeds ammunition into a fire arm illegal. Harris sets up the new state law for California in an organized fashion, where no misinterpretations can be made, at least for understanding the new general law towards “assault weapons”.
