I agree Heather self-disclosure within the workplace is extremely important for it allows room for empathy. The example you used about the supervisor and employee was great. I myself just recently loved two loved ones within weeks of each other as a consequence my supervisor has allowed some flexibility with my work schedule to occur. However, if I had not disclosed information at that moment she would not have understood why I needed to have certain days off. When people build walls around themselves to keep others from seeing them the walls also prevent others from learning about them (Lamberton & Minor, 2014). Correspondingly, self-disclosure within the work place can lead to cool activities, lasting friendships, in addition to entertainment
