Viola (Vi) Wells, is her name, is the main negotiator in the impediment and stop for the plantation. When the production first comes into view, one can see how "Vi" is one with her character with her script. According to the text, "When a performer is approaching a role in the play, the first task is to read and analyze the script" (Wilson 114). As a performer, her character of "Vi" was well thought out as she was in the small Asian community trying to make a deal. Next is the performer of Ni Bethu, which is one of the main Asian characters whose village gets interrupted with their palm oil plantation. At first one can see, she is of the traditional Asian individuals. Her use of traditional clothing can be seen when she first entered the stage. For example, "The character portrayed can be a historical figure, an imaginary figure, or even self-representation …" (Wilson 13). Being of Asian descent herself, it felt as if she was representing her self. In contrast, the performer of Brittany Matal, is opposite from the rest of the characters. Another example is shown in his concept, which, "Is an overall image or metaphor of a play" (Wilson 123). In which, I would describe the concept he was giving off is "community togetherness". Two reasons, one, the community was not going to let a corporation take over their land, and two, they came together to persuade the company of Empire Holdings to make a deal and have other options. A final example of a directors attributes, casting, "Assigning roles to performers in a production; this is usually done by the director" (Wilson 123). One can see what the director's image of what they play will consist of, as well as his vision. Each performer was carefully picked for the directors right reasons and all in all, it came together very well and maintained the image of the
