It was so tragic and surprising to read this scene, and it is rare that one of the main characters in a book will die. Then, another jaw-dropping scene was when the Jabberwock, the creature who has been terrorizing Hearts, was the old man’s wife. The author also writes how it was revealed she was the Jabberwock - and the evidence was right in front of our eyes. It was mind-blowing that such a minor character could actually be the inhumane, wicked, and heinous Jabberwock.
