This poem was deep, and had a lot of emotion. You could tell that the writer had been really hurt and maybe had even been taken advantage of. She had a dark and weary tone, which meant that this was an emotional piece to write and it had a big impact on her life, or someone else’s life. She had a rhythm that flowed nicely, and for the most part the syllables in each stanza matched every time, (which I particularly like).
To me, it personally gives the vibe that a significant other had used her, and it drained her as if he had sucked blood from her manipulated body, causing an emotional trauma. Heartbreak is one of the easiest things to write about. When you’ve been hurt badly, words can be easier to express when writing, rather than actually suddenly speaking. Poetry is a way of expressing feelings, thoughts. So when something big happens to you, it affects you more, so

It doesn’t actually mean that someone ate her, or bit her. It could very possibly mean that she feels as if she’s no longer whole. She’s broken, sad, lonely, and incomplete because this person has done her wrong. I personally think emotional or deep poems are the best, just because they can express what’s hard for you to say when you don’t know how to particularly say it. They’re the most relatable, and easiest to understand, especially if you’ve gone through a loss, or something similar.
Poetry doesn’t always rhyme, and it doesn’t always have a certain beat. They can be a Sonnet which is a short rhyming poem with 14 lines, a Limerick which is a five-line witty poem with a distinctive rhythm, it can be a Haiku, which is renowned for its small size as well as the precise punctuation and syllables needed on its three lines, and many many more, though these are the most

Thus, despite his liaisons he always finds himself coming back to her. Yet, she is not content with this relationship. Her repetition of “I can do this” comes with a lack of sincerity. Just because she comes off as pure and sweet does not make it so. She clearly desires the man in the poem, she clearly disapproves of his womanizing.…

The constant repetition of two rhymes really makes it easier for readers to follow along and keep interested. It is very simple poem yet so powerful. The last stanza of the poem is what reveals everything that the poet was going through. We discover that she has lost her recent loved one, but that doesn’t matter to her because she has lost everything in her life. She survived without everything else and evidently she will survive without her ex-lover.…

A lot of people can agree on the fact that many of O’Hara’s poems are difficult to understand, however I feel like this poem is very relatable and is fairly easy to interpret. Many of us have felt heartbreak due to a loved one, whether it was mourning a death or dealing with a breakup. O’Hara vividly describes in detail how he felt about his sorrow toward his loved one, which I am sure many feel sympathetic towards, because they have dealt with the same feelings. The poem has 6 stanzas, one thing I thought that was interesting, was that every single stanza was a quatrain except for one stanza that only had 3 lines.…

“Nothing but the Hurt Left Here…” Brian Turner’s “The Hurt Locker”, is a poem about the Iraqi war and the suffering the soldiers face there. It depicts the real suffering felt by soldiers, not just in this war but in any and every war. It is something that should be taken seriously, and not taken lightly. It is not like the video games make it seem, it is rough, deadly and scary. In real life though, you do not get a redo, there are no extra lives.…

The poem “Head, Heart” by Lydia Davis is short, but has a very powerful message. To me, the author is speaking of a broken heart story. An issue that a lot of people my age struggle with. The main thing that pointed this out to me was the name of the poem, “Head, Heart.” These two things are what people turn to when they struggle with decisions about a relationship.…

Poetry has been written for years and it has impacted people in different ways, some people feel motivated with a poem when another one can sad. Emily Dickenson, a poem writer was not famous for her in her life time since, most of her work was published after her dead. In her poetry, there were poems that had some motivation as well as sadness, or even both in a transitional form. In one of her poem “Success is a counted sweetness” she makes the reader feel motivated, but at the same time disappointed because of the sacrifices that have to be done for success. “After great pain, a formal feeling comes” is a poem that has a sad tone at the beginning but eventually changes to a different tone.…

Speech can come from various forms of views. Some may come from an imaginary voice or 3rd person while others can come from a 1st person view. Voices can be directed to an audience or a targeted array of people. While both poems “Speech to the Young: Speech to the Progress-Toward” and “For My Daughter,” are both overpowering poems that affect us emotionally, “For My Daughter” gives off a negative emotional position whereas other poems showcase a different approach such as the poem “Speech to the Young: Speech to the Progress-Toward” which is positive.…

Poetry has been prevalent for centuries, present in all cultures. There is a grand variety of styles that poetry can be represented through. There are some types of poetry where one follows rigid guidelines like sonnets, where one follows a specific rhyme scheme and an iambic pentameter, or a haiku, which has three lines and the first and last line have five syllables while the second line has seven. Additionally, some poets follow no requirements, and write as they please, like free verse poetry.…
