Hearing Observation Paper

I want to first start off by saying this was a hearing person that talked about the functions of what an audiogram does. I observed a guested speaker who talked about the audiogram. She gave us information about what audiogram and what she does. An audiogram is a graph that shows the audible threshold for standardized frequencies as measured by an audiometer which as a Y and X axis. The Y axis represents intensity measured by decibels and the X represents the frequency by hertz. The threshold of hearing is plotted by the curve that is normal hearing in dB (HL). She then went on to tell us that audiometer is a devise that helps to tell how good your hearing really is by putting on headphones and then making sounds in different level on both sides of the ears, and you have to put your hand up if you can hear them.
On the headphone there are marks with two different colors the right is red and the left is blue when you hear the sound you are to raise your hand to indicate that you can hear the sounds. When you put these headphones on they let you hear some different sounds and you are to raise your hands to let them know you can hear them. Which then they will let you know if you have good hearing or bad. There are 3 types of hearing such as conductive, sensorineural, and mixed of the both these are different areas of the ear that might be causing the hearing loss. Over all this machine is a good devise that can help anyone that feels that they might have problems hearing. This observation was very interesting to learn about audiogram that can help find out where your hearing is before this. I knew nothing about what it was or even did but now I have a better knowledge of it
