Healthy Vs Healthy Lifestyle

The healthy lifestyle has been a huge part of my life for the past few years. Wellness is also something I strive for but struggle with a tad more. That being said, I do believe there is a difference between “health” and “wellness”. Health has to do with the physical body, being rid of sickness, steady metabolism and within good body fat percent for that person’s age and height. The dictionary defines health as “the state of being free from illness or injury”. (Merriam Webster) Wellness to me means mentally, emotionally and spiritually healthy. You can put hours into the gym but if your diet isn 't where it should be your results will be minimal if any at all. Going on a run every once few days is a great way to keep yourself in shape. Killer work outs are not needed even though many like them. Overworking your body is also a very real issue. People getting into the gym, especially guys, tend to focus on a small amount of muscles such as arms or chest. This leads to them working that muscle every day or every other day. It’s usually best to wait 3 days before working that muscle to give it time to repair itself and heal. On the note of repair, many people don 't get enough sleep for their body to function at its maximal potential. Eight hours should be the goal for hours of sleep a night.

Personal hygiene contributes to health in the way of being not sick. Washing your hands is something people don 't do and often get themselves or someone else sick. Taking vitamins like Vitamin C or getting injections can prevent you from getting sick and staying

I used to not be very happy with myself which lead to depression in the first two years of high school. My grades were not good, i fact I had a GPA of 1.7 my freshman year. My family situation was not the best and socially I was a weird kid with no friends. I’m not the type of person to ask for help, I have arrogance to me and don 't like to be seen as weak or needing help so I didn 't do anything about it. I held all the frustration inside me and bottled it up which wasn 't the best idea. On a certain night I wanted to end my life and drank some bleach and another cleaner. Immediately I told my mom realizing I didn’t actually want to die. This behavior on my part definitely put me at risk, to the extent of death. I should have told my parents or some other adult figure that I was struggling with self worth. I was given the choice of seeing a therapist after but I opted out because I found a new outlet for my emotions which is lifting in the gym. Going to the gym was a very good choice for me. It gave me new sense of self worth as I saw huge progress and was a place where I could be alone, as soon as my headphones were in I didn 't notice anyone else in the gym. I don 't exactly agree that popularity should be based on looks or appearance but going to the gym made me more friends as I got bigger and had something to talk about with the other athletes at my

The word “health” does not have a clear universal definition. As learned in class, cultures take “health” and run with it, making a definition that they see fit. As a future nurse, it is a responsibility of mine now to be familiar with a general conceptual meaning of health. Although health is not strictly defined, every healthcare provider should consider forming a loose definition of health based on a health model as to not act completely on ignorance. My definition of health is as follows: health is considered a state of being, whether good or bad, that is ultimately influenced by one’s personal decisions.…

“Health” is something that I struggle to define. I don’t always think that I am a healthy person according to society’s standards; however, I look like I am because I fall into the category of “a “slothful [person] who happen[s] to be thin” that Kathleen Lebesco mentions in “Fat Panic and the New Morality,” (75). Some foods are nutritious and needed by our bodies. We occasionally indulge in things that make us feel good like chocolate, ice cream, or wine. People must find the right mix of nutritious and indulgences for their bodies to find their version of health.…
