Too often, students neglect working out because they do not believe that they have time. If a required class was incorporated into their schedule, they would be more likely to put forth an effort in the program. This past June, I ran the Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth, Minnesota. I must have motivated my mother from my previous marathon, as she decided to sign up as a charity walker for the Multiple Sclerosis Society in the half distance. My goal of my first marathon had not only been to run for myself, but to inspire my mother to not give up on the passion she once had. Healthy lifestyles are lifetime endeavors not only because they require continuous work, but become inspiring when true results are made. Minor successes are more likely to motivate students to start working out on their own, or even taking a group fitness class at their local gym. Over a semester, small changes like increased concentration and regular sleeping cycles might occur. Next, clothes that were once too small might begin to fit without a struggle. These small accomplishments could serve as a big enough motivator for students to push their boundaries. When a person sees a small improvement after beginning a life of wellness, it inspires them to continue to see larger and more meaningful results. Eventually, this can also inspire others to devote their lives to being healthy, as my mother and I have done throughout various parts of our time together.
In addition to exercising regularly, I eat very healthily for my body and the environment. I am a lacto-ovo vegetarian, which lowers my carbon emission into the environment and protects the lives of animals. I eat many foods like eggs, nuts, and fruits to ensure that I am fueled for my day. I have spent many hours researching the nutritional needs for my body, but also respecting a life of balance. Nutrition is truly representative where putting more thought and effort into something promotes positive results, which college students could learn through their
