Healthy Campus 2020
Is Eastern likely to achieve the goals set for Healthy Campus 2020? First, Healthy Campus is based off of the Healthy People initiative; but is for specifically college students. (Lynch, 2012) With this in mind, schools participate in this program to reduce stress and depression, decrease abuse of alcohol and drugs, integrate and improve on more physical activity options around campus, and improve the sexual health of these students. (Lynch, 2012) Similarly, Healthy People 2020’s goals are: to increase public awareness and understanding of health, disease, and disability. They also have goals to eliminate any preventable diseases, disabilities, injuries, and premature deaths. Healthy

These tasks will be mobilize, assess, plan, implement, and track. (Map-IT Framework)
Without delay, mobilizing needs to be thought out. We need to figure out exactly what we are going to do to achieve our goal, and how we are going to get there. Then, after brainstorming ideas; we will need to think of who we would like to get help from, and then get in contact with these other organizations, groups, people, etc. to come together with us to help us succeed; as long as we know exactly what we want their responsibilities to be in order to help. We can then all meet up and discuss next steps. (Map-IT Framework)
Then, we need to further assess the campus. With this in mind, campus needs to be assessed in order to find out what our beneficial needs are. (Map-IT Framework) I believe stress/depression needs to be addressed, as well as physical activity, healthy eating, sexual health knowledge, and drug/tobacco use. Comparatively, eating well, exercising, and getting enough sleep can help the process of stress and depression to somewhat lesson. (Coping with Stress, 2015) Also, two and a half hours of physical activity, as well as eating healthy, having balanced meals, and protecting/getting tested for STDS are also important characteristics to stay on top of.
