One of the major issues in health care has become heath care spending. For those who pay insurance, notice that their insurance premiums have gone up. The reason for that being is to help prepare for future expenses down the road. Since the health care has reformed, more people that are low to middle income have qualified for Medicaid in which others are taxed to help fund. This has caused the spending to increase for the United States.
According to National Health Expenditures of 2013, “health care spending increased 3.6 percent to reach $2.9 trillion”. The spending that comes from the different health care facilities are all factored in the overall spending. Hospitals, Dentist, Home Health

The article talked about the expenses for healthcare rose at an annual rate of 5.6% and accounted for almost 25% of the economy’s 2.6% annualized growth in the last three months of 2013 (Davidons, 2014). “The Affordable Care Act's mandate for Americans to have health coverage this year or pay a penalty will fuel further spending increases this year, says George Miller, a fellow at the Altarum Institute's Center for Sustainable Health Spending. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services expects health spending to rise 6.1% this year, up from about 4% in 2013, as an estimated 11 million Americans gain health insurance” (Davidons, 2014). One of the Objectives of the Affordable Care Act is for providers to lean more towards prevention which would be more efficient to hospitals and limit the number of readmissions (Davidons, 2014).
Health care spending in the United States has grown since last year at the lowest rate ever recorded, due to the Affordable Care Act. It is one of the top social and economic problems Americans are facing today. Health care issues within the United States today seems to still be a major concern and there are some issues that still has to be dealt with and three of the major issues with health care spending is how much is it going to cost and second where is the money going to come from?
