Personal Accounts Healthcare workers also have the opportunity to have personal social media accounts. In 2010, the American Medical Association adopted social media guidelines, becoming the first health care professional body to do that. For example, it states the basic physician-patient boundaries. This includes professional relationships with patients following ethical guidelines. Some facilities encourage their staff to have personal and professional accounts, and to only let friends and family on the personal account, so no ethical boundaries are crossed (Kuczynski, 2005).

This causes personal health information to be on the Internet and could quickly end up on social medias if it got into the wrong hands.
