Sharp Healthcare is a large healthcare organization that has set a of goal of being the best place to work and the best place to get healthcare. They have accomplished a lot toward both of these goals by implementing their Six Pillars of Excellence. Sharp focuses on re-recruiting their employees, and use feedback with re-training for employees that are falling short of the company’s expectations. They also implemented patient surveys to acquire feedback from those receiving care so that they can improve the quality of care within their organization.
The key facts and critical issues that were presented in this case study regarding Sharp Healthcare is Pillars of Excellence. The pillars of excellence focus on quality, service and people. According to the study Sharp Healthcare is “San Diego’s largest private employer” (Burns, Bradley & Weiner, 2011). Sharp Healthcare has worked hard on obtaining the goal of being the best place to work and services. Being that they are the largest employers in San Diego, the company has been recognized for it outstanding place to work. They have also won awards recognizing the quality and service of the company.

Sharp Healthcare has done well for the organization as a whole. They have been listed as “best places to work” (Burns, Bradley & Weiner, 2011) in 2008. Yes, it can be replicated. Though, the size of the organization with availability of resources is a limiting factor as it involves devoting resources on training and development, job enrichment and other aspects that encourages employees to deliver their best.
