I would love a job as a healthcare administrator. Healthcare administrators are responsible for coordinating, planning, and directing medical and health services. They can work in a variety of settings including, hospitals, specialized clinical area’s, or in a medical practice with a group of physician’s. The healthcare environment is an ever-changing one, as a result the healthcare administrator must stay up-to-date on any new regulations, changes in healthcare laws, and technology.
Healthcare administrator’s are typically responsible for many different functions within their facility. They recruit, hire, and supervise assiatnt administarotrs , clerks, and respetionist. Assistant administrators are needed, based on the size of the facility. They create works schedules. Are responsible for maintaining and organizing records , based on the services provided by the facility. They also manage the facilities finances including, patient fees and billing. At times, they may even be the face of the facility by representing them on governing boards or investor meetings. A master’s degree is highly favored but not necessary to apply. In addition to the education requirement, hiring managers are also looking for people who possess a unique set of skills such as, communication, anaylitical, technical, and interpersonal skills. They must also be detail oriented because they are responisible for critical aspects that keep the facility running. In terms of experience, hiring managers are looking for someone who have atleast two to three years of supervisory experience.
