The disorder in this case study is paranoid schizophrenia. How I identified this type of psychological disorder was from the symptoms that Marie was experiencing as well as her extremely unusual behaviour. People with paranoid schizophrenia experience positive symptoms these positive symptoms is the sensory belief that is with them in that moment but not with others that are around the sufferer. A positive symptom like delusions which are fictitious beliefs that do not correlate with an individual’s culture. To work with my client in a culturally competent manner I would first need to have knowledge of the different Aboriginal native languages in our area and the history behind them. It also would be crucial for me to know of all Aboriginal community services that are in the area as well especially if further services are needed to help with recovery. I should also be mindful that in Aboriginal culture women and men business is often kept to each perspective side. When working with my client to improve her situation I would need to be respectful and attentively listen so that I do not ask her to repeat herself other this could cause frustration or upset her further If she had not already tried to remove herself from the situation or had nowhere else to live to be able to do this, I could refer her to suitable women’s refuges in the area to ensure her safety and well-being. 5.
