There are countless workplace health and safety hazards but some of the most common ones include: communicable disease, transportation accidents, workplace violence, slipping and falling, toxic events, particularly chemical and gas exposure, getting struck by objects, electrocution or explosion, repetitive motion and ergonomic injuries, and hearing loss. It is important to know which health and safety hazards will affect business the most. Some things you will need to know are: will it be a serious threat to the employee, damage the business, will the employee miss work, or other things along these lines.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is the go-to resource for the legal requirements in a particular industry or state. OSHA enforces the health and safety laws. Some people see OSHA as bad and others as good. OSHA is only trying to protect the wellbeing of employees in the workplace. It is good to stay on their side. OSHA can help if help is needed.
A lot of companies, in a way, encourage employees to come to work while they are sick due to the limited amount of sick leave. This allows other to contract whatever the sick employee has whether it be a cold, the flu, or anything else contagious. Companies should try to encourage sick employees to stay home instead of spreading their sickness to other employees. Companies should try to have a way for sick employees to work from home if they are ambulatory but contagious. This way work can still be done…
