Communication Concepts

There are two concepts that I feel are more important than the others or are affected by and affect all others we have gone over in this class. The first concept is health as it ties into all these things, for if we are unhealthy it affects our minds and we are unable to learn and put that learning to good use in the future because it is fragmented or skewed. The second one is communication because what good is all the information we gather and learn if we can not effectively communicate with others what we have found out or pass on what we know to others. I am going to answer the questions presented within the essay questions whole in a few paragraphs. I will begin with health first, and then I will answer those question regarding communication …show more content…
We need our health or we lose cognition, have greater stress in our lives and become lethargic and sick. Working on my fitness will help me improve on all aspects of my life. It will help me to retain the concepts and strategies that we have learned in class. While I have not done much that pertains to the idea that was put forth in the class lesson it has been on my mind due to other factors in my life. The awareness I have of this concept and its application to my life come from how I always park further out, so I have to walk more to get to class. I also take the stairs over an elevator, and when going to the opera for Humanities, we walked six blocks to the theater instead of parking close by. I also drink a lot of water, try to eat vegetables at every meal, and try to get six to seven hours of sleep a …show more content…
I plan to attend GATOR meetings next semester for the discussions to help improve myself as well. The skill of communication will be of great assistance in obtaining a job through interview skills, more outstanding presentations when they are required, and to help in getting my point across to others in a clear and concise manner. Reflecting back on the various concepts presented to us in class the decision to elevate any of them above another was involved. To choose just two ideas as important to work on and develop above all the others that implied the rest of them were somehow inferior. So my choices of health and communication have ties back to everything we have learned, and they are something that will help in the future to further my learning. Without either health or communication, the learning done would be fragmented, shadowed, and twisted. Thank you for everything you have given me in my time spent in this

Upon my arrival at Commonwealth Honors Academy a mere twelve days ago I was ignorant to the fact that I was going to learn so much in my time spent here, but now I look back and realize that I have gained so much knowledge and I have acquired more details to add to what I knew before arrival. Overall I have learned that most things in life require constant attention and effort to make them truly work and that anyone you come in contact with and create an influence with will then, in turn, make a larger circle of influence that can quickly become bigger than you can ever be. The universal themes that have had the largest impact on me are the themes of Happiness, Friendship, and Sovereignty of Education. It was Aristotle who defined happiness…

I thought this video was interesting yet disturbing. Prior to this video, I had never heard of the facilitated communication theory. When watching the video clips of facilitated commination being performed, I did question why the facilitator were holding their hand. However, I thought that the clips were just demonstrating how they were teaching them to use a key board, not knowing that was the way they were actually communicating. One of the most disturbing and shocking segments of the video were the false accusations of sexual abuse made by the facilitators.…

This class was actually very interesting and really helped me to open my eyes to the ways in which I have been not focusing on my physical health. When it comes to my present activity level, a lot has changed from the beginning of this class. I have to say that before this class I never made physical activity a priority in my day. I counted walking to class as a form of physical activity, which it was, but not enough. I am a lazy person and would rather be laying around watching Netflix than going to the gym.…
