The point that I would like to discuss in my first thought paper is the significance of health promotion. Health promotion, the idea that claims that good health is an individual and shared achievement, aims to positively impact the health behavior of individuals and communities as well as the situations that influence their wellness. The author in our textbook stresses the importance of health promotion, the benefits of changing health behaviors, and the obstacles to modifying such behaviors.

Unfortunately, most Americans don’t practice all or any of these habits. It is the role of health psychologists and other health professionals to promote health and wellness. The main goal of psychologists specialized in this area should be to prevent diseases and illnesses by educating the community, conducting research related to the relationship between health and psychology, and to help those combat the illnesses that they already have. Social media has also been doing a fairly good job in regards to good health by allowing online communities and connections for people who are struggling with various illnesses. Overall, the field of health psychology has made a lot of progress in terms of health promotion and discouraging individuals against poor health habits.
