Since I am a nurse first and foremost, health promotion is always going to be at the top of my list. I use it every single day and it is something that I will always use because if I see a problem, it will be addressed. There has been a lot of discussion when it comes to chronic illnesses. It has been so much so that it has medical costs skyrocketing and leaving a negative impact on the national economy. These are patients that seek medical attention even if they are not going to recover from their illness. However, these cases are not lost causes. Health professionals are able to manage these to where the disease can be slowed down and life can be prolonged (McCorkle, Ercolano, Lazenby, Schulman-Green, Schilling, Lorig & Wagner, 2011).
