I share the same view on the role of education to health promotion and disease prevention. Health literacy has been suggested as an “important outcome for effective health education” (Hou, 2014, p. 620). However, health education is not just about imparting information but also promoting motivation and establishing healthy behaviors and skills (Hou, 2014). Just as in any health promotion activities, nurses, as health educators need to have the competence and confidence to engage the learners to participate actively in the learning process. One competence that nurses must worked on is expanding the nursing process to include communicating and collaborating with other health care professionals in the provision of patient care (Hou, 2014).
