For this assignment, the selected health problem is obesity. According to Epidemiological Reviews by Oxford Journals, adult overweight and obesity were defined by using body mass index (weight (kg)/height (m)2) cutpoints of twenty and thirty; childhood “at risk for overweight” and overweight were defined as the eighty-fifth and ninety-fifth percentiles of body mass index (Wang, F. & Beydoun, M. 2007). Additionally, according to Epidemiological Reviews by Oxford Journals, average annual increase in and future projections for prevalence were estimated by using linear regression models {statistical applications} (Wang, F. & Beydoun, M. 2007). Furthermore, according to Epidemiological Reviews by Oxford Journals, among adults, obesity prevalence increased from thirteen to thirty-two percent between the 1960s and 2004. Currently, sixty-six percent {two-thirds} of adults are overweight or obese; sixteen percent {one-in-six} of children and adolescents are overweight and thirty-four {over one-third} are at risk of overweight (Wang, F. & Beydoun, M. 2007). This extends to minority and low-socioeconomic-status groups, as these groups are disproportionately affected at all ages (Wang, F. & Beydoun, M. 2007).
